The VALENTI FOUNDATION’S Tribute to 45 Years of Valentino Fashion,
Featuring Legendary Rocker Chubby Checker
Saturday April 12, 2008
Imagine This…
Close your eyes and imagine. Imagine entering the expansive, exquisite grounds of a hilltop mansion in exclusive Rancho Santa Fe, California, guarded by a lake on one side and buffeted by stallions and mares on the other, with a old-brick ascent beckoning your presence at this oasis of grandeur. The timber centurion entry opens its immense self immediately revealing ultimate, classic elegance, framed from floor to ceiling in oak and redwood while boasting three-story flying buttresses rivaling the hull of a 1700-century tall-ship. That is just the entryway for this event…
Next, imagine strolling onto a festive platform under a high-top of grandiose flare and being whisked away by a-fantasy-come true setting --- a center of celebration filled with fashion elegance, exquisite cuisine, unique art and legendary entertainment all draped in sparkling splashes of haute colors and twinkling lights. A spectacular serpentine of Valentino Red winds its way from various artistic accoutrements including the tremendous staging area, libation stations, flirts of fashion and medallions of motion and music.
Now close your eyes…and imagine sleeping on the street. Imagine the cold, hard reality of waking up at 3 am because the cardboard that was serving as your blanket and bedroom and roof has been reclaimed by the homeless man not far from you. Now imagine being 11 years old and in this predicament. Her name is Chloe…
We Can Help…
The VALENTI FOUNDATION’S Tribute to 45 Years of Valentino Fashion spectacular to benefit homeless and foster children in San Diego County on Saturday April 12, 2008 is designed to create one night to remember so that homeless children will have no longer have a lifetime of nights out in the cold.
Valenti International is hosting the event that will raise money for “A Children’s Village” in San Diego’s East County, which will be a new home for more than 200 parentless children. The April 12th event will feature an installation of Valentino’s 45 years of fashion with the legendary Chubby Checker to offer an exclusive, private performance that will fuse his 1960 all time classic with his modern “twist”.
The Valenti Foundation’s goal is to raise at least one million dollars for homeless children in San Diego County. Valenti international’s President, Irene Valenti, has personally donated $100,000 and the Foundation has already received advanced donations matching this amount.
The event will include Valenti Foundation’s tribute to Designer and couture deity Valentino, featuring an installation of Valentino’s 45-years of fashion. Along with the evenings entertainment, an auction featuring a Valentino designer gown, a statue valued at over a million dollars, a 4-day cruise in the south of France on a private 95-foot yacht and two pieces of one-of-a-kind jewelry created by Damiani Jewelers, top of the jewelry sector in Italy with success worldwide as the highest expression of Italian style and tradition and appreciated by celebrities such as Isabella Rossellini, Brad Pitt, Nastassja Kinski Chiara Mastroianni, Milla Jovovich, Jennifer Aniston, Gwyneth Paltrow, Sophia Loren, princes and prime ministers world over.
Wow!
What a better way to enter a party than through the front door of a mansion! In this tradition, guests will enter though the Valenti mansion’s main portico, which will be draped in rich “Valentino” red silk swaged open amidst large urns filled with red roses matching the color of the drape.
In the Entrata, a harpist sits off to the right amongst urns of all sizes – as large as 4 feet tall - filled with even more gorgeous red roses, welcoming the guests with beautiful soft and soothing sounds. As guests walk through the living room, they are handed a glass of champagne by a gauntlet of waiters in white tie, and make their way out to the terrace, where the columns are all up lit in the traditional Valentino Red. It obvious that this night is about chic, haute couture, and simple, elegant flavor.
Up one or two steps, a large, long landing marks the entry to the dinner tent. In this stylish and fashionable setting the Valentino Red is carried forth… The landing is a black wood floor, which extends into the tent - the entry is flanked by large four-foot plus high silver urns with red roses and surrounded by floating candles in hurricanes at all heights and sizes… Very simple… Very elegant.
Entering into the tent, guests are awestruck by the simplicity and elegance of design. The tent flooring is covered by a black floor where rectangular tables sit draped in crisp white Duponi silk linens. The tables form a "U" shape around a black and white (Chubby) checker dance floor, upon changing projections are cast in abstract fashion imagery in black shadow. The ceiling and walls are draped in matching white silk to the tables. Black Chavaris chairs with black cushions surround the tables.
Upon each table, set in a row are sleek, silver urns filled with a bountiful combination of cherry red English garden and Ecuadorian roses embellished with black gems.
Projected onto the two side walls flanking the dining area is a simple bright red "VALENTINO"– a sharp contrast to the whiteness of the silk drape – and beautiful in its simplicity and radiation.
Immediately to the left and right of the tent entrance, are the bars/lounge areas with black bars staffed by bartenders in white tie. Each bartender wears a red rose in his lapel.
Haute! Haute! Haute!
To highlight the fashion, interspersed into the rows of tables, are sets of large cubes. Each cube is covered in white, with a ring of red roses around the top edge. Spotlights illuminate each box as a model ascends, poses, turns, and walks off. The Fashion Show takes place during dinner and is set to a hip sound that will keep the models in stride and the guests tapping their toes.
While this is a one-of-a-kind event that is expected at such a prestigious address, this event will surpass every guest’s expectations. Its simple elegance, its chic style, and its fun atmosphere all combine to give every guest a lasting memory of a fabulous night of great food, great atmosphere, great music, great friendship – and, most of all – great giving.
Food! Glorious Food!
Fabulous food is being catered by Waters Catering, featuring a rendition of tuna tartar in black rice purse, fava bean “cappucino”, wild fennel goat cheese crisps, flat iron crostini gribiche, all day braised short ribs, yukon gold and parsnip purée with tarragon and citrus, and fromage blanc panna cotta.
Lights! Camera! Auction!
This live auction has the trappings of a Sotheby’s collection. The auction will feature unique, one of a kind items ranging from use of a private yacht in the south of France to an incredible, million-dollar sculpture, life-size designed by Nina Sedlar to dinner with Fr. Joe, Irene Valenti and Chubby Checker! (just to mention a few)
Twisting The Night Away
Speaking of the man, Chubby Checker, this spectacular night will be capped off with a performance by Chubby and his rock group, the Wildcats. You will be amazed at how 48-years later, Chubby is still rocking, still twisting (come on Baby!) and still captivating crowds with his legendary brand of rock and roll.
